These earrings started as scraps of metal from projects past and ideas that never took form. Using a torch, the metal was melted down and cast into simple forms using charcoal. This process allows for a level of experimentation that results in a unique object that takes on the natural texture of the burnt charcoal.

Each earring has a dark, vitreous blue grey spinel, set in the center. They are flush set and surrounded by deep cuts using a hand pushed engraver.

Each piece of this collection is a small artifact that reflects care and balance in its making. Everything is individually constructed by hand, using recycled materials. The outcome reminds me of the small rock I carry around in my pocket, a small memento that holds memories and brings a sense of comfort.
